A couple of things

Yesterday on the Drudgereport.com I came across an article written by Politico's writer - Michael Calerone on the Fairness Doctrine and Bill Clinton. Clinton is obviously in favor of silencing those individuals like Rush Limbaugh who says harsh things against the Democrats. What galls me to no end how the Democrats are attempting to take away all our freedoms especially the Freedom of Speech. At this point, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, MSNBC, and both CNN networks are so liberal, not to mention the publications as well.

My husband and I have traditionally watched the news in the morning and evening and we know who the non-biased reporters are and will not watch their news shows. There are maybe one or two on CNN and we like our local CBS channel early morning otherwise we watch Fox. It's very discerning to hear the bias comments rather than just reporting just the facts.

If a bill like the Fairness Doctrine passes, does this mean our personal blogs stating our dislike of what's going on in Washington with the Democrats will be abolished?

I was totally outraged when I heard President Obama chastise the executives of the stimulus group for going to Las Vegas - I mean, he specifically picked out Las Vegas! It was unbelievable. He came to Vegas so many times and talked to our Culinary Union and had it not been for the union he wouldn't have won the voters here. But, guess what - its the Culinary Union workers that have been put out of work due to this financial breakdown and anytime there is a large group to come to town, it does help the workers. So, what happened with the executives - they went to San Francisco, Seattle, and other places. My son works at one of the hotels and his hours have been cut drastically.

I wonder how the Culinary Union feels about their backing of President Obama now? I think Las Vegas Mayor Goodman did the right thing writing President Obama a letter but I doubt it will do any good. President Obama doesn't seem like the type of man who apologizes for a faux paux. Wait until 2012, maybe the comment will come back to bite him - I hope so.

Although I DON'T watch any of President Obama's town halls, or speeches, it was impossible to miss the constant repetition of the network news snippets and reporting of President Obama's town hall and the guy who worked at McDonald's giving Alleluias for Obama and also the HOMELESS lady who was dressed very nicely - even had a fresh styled hairdo and somehow managed to get attention from President Obama. Have you ever seen a real homeless person? They don't have style hairdos! How obvious can it be that the Obama people are planting maybe prepaid (you think?) fakes in the crowd to drum up sympathy and support for anything President Obama says or does and now to give out free services in front of national new services!

This morning I read Nancy Pelosi is heading to Rome as soon as the stimulus bill is passed (without anyone reading it!). She has disregarded all the prime Catholic rules. I will be very interested to see how she and the Pope get along. I'm Catholic and I know money talks and she's gotten away with a lot - her and the Kennedys and a few others and can still receive the sacraments. Damn, it ticks me off how money talks and if you got it, you can get away with murder!

A white glove approach

Obama's press secretary describes Obama's approach as a "white glove" analogy (check here) but I find all this haggling very disconcerting. Me thinks he does protest too much - what is his point? What's his hurry? I can only think he has made a deadline promise to someone to hurry this up - for crying out loud, we're not talking about a $10.00 bet on a horse race but billions/trillions of our dollars. Dang it! is he afraid the American people will find out what is actually in the "stimulus bill?" And his comments to the Democrats at what is usually a no-press fun fest and all the sudden the press is permitted - he said "what is spending but stimulus" or something to that effect. The games they play, its not even "HIS" bill but the Democrats and finally the Republicans have had their chance to enter into the contest. Long term jobs - where - do you see any written in the bill?

I think he is fulfilling his promises to his contributors and nothing more. I was thrilled to see something written in to help the housing industry - but who brought that to the floor - the Republicans. I guess the Democrats have lost their minds since they have become the majority and can't really handle the responsibilities. Looks like a bunch of kids who have been let loose in a candy store without supervision.

I am scared more about the union changes. We have been a union family for a long time. My dad had a great job back in the 60s in Las Vegas building the hotel, hospitals, and schools because of the unions - it was a different time then. We are Republicans and union members - do you know how it effects us because our dues go to support Democrats and we don't dare tell of our affiliation for fear of being retaliated upon? There are hypocracies in our democracy.

Our new GOP Chairman - Michael Steele

I was delighted when I heard on Foxs News yesterday that Michael Steele had been voted in as Chairman of the Republican party. I have to honestly say, I have received a lot of communications from the Republican party for a long time - for donations - and emails too, but I really didn't know a lot about who was heading the party - now I know, I've seen Michael Steele on Foxs New often and I have ALWAYS listened to what he had to say.

GOP Chairman Michael Steele is well-spoken, pleasant personality, educated on the issues and someone I can and will pay attention to. I look forward to his leadership putting the Republican Party back on the map and headed in the right direction - he means business!! The Democrats have walked all over us - and I've noticed some of our elected Republicans in office now not standing up for party values.

I am hopeful now - and I look for a Honest Change in the Right Direction!!!

Geithner receives large severance sum

Newly minted Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s finances got a recent boost, thanks to a plump $435,000 severance payment from his old employer – the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In addition, Geithner last year earned $411,000 as president of the New York Fed and got another $50,000 to $100,000 for unused vacation and comp time, according to a mandatory financial disclosure statement released by the Office of Government Ethics.

President Obama was upset with the Wall Street executives over their bonuses but oh, wait, its okay Geithner gets bonuses because Geithner's one of his buds!

So typical! Why should we be shocked at anything we read about this administration. Even Nancy Pelosi thinks she's bipartisan as reported on Drudgereport.com.

Sarah Palin is riding in on her four-wheeler to rescue the Republican's in a couple of days. Someone has to pull the party together.

President Obama has shed his jacket not for "casual day" but because he sets his office thermastat on high and it's too hot for the jacket. He wants us to economize while he wastes - don't do as I do but as I say - because I WON!

Cry Out

I saw this video today on Airman Mom's blog. It brought to mind our precious military personnel serving to protect us and what a friend said to me today. She is against the war. Her boys never served. She'll never know the pride. She'll never know the sacrifices we have made for Our Country. She'll never understand why.

President Elect Obama will asked for $440 million for NASA to investigate global warming. I guess he's given up trusting former Vice President Gore's word on the subject considering Gore's lack of environmental procedures in his personal life.

In the Netherlands, they are having a Cold Spell - their canals are frozen. We're having record cold temperatures in our northern states, but the Dems are stubbornly trying to convince the U. S. citizens we are having global warming. Is this one method of employment President Elect Obama is pursuing, giving NASA additional work for scientists to do some experiments in the frozen tundra?

There was a news report this morning we could product our own fuel if we collect the by product of wine and beer but we needed a special container which we could have right in our back yard. Gee, I wish I knew all the stuff we could do with recycle byproducts especially manure. We collected the cow patties from our land where we raised Black Angus cows years ago and we would spread the manure for fertilizer. We didn't know much about turning it into fuel back then, holy cow, we could have been rich!

This was the most unappealing news I heard today. A man who was nominated to be our new Treasury Secretary by President-Elect Obama owes back taxes - and did so several years in a row. One amount he had to repay was over $25,000.00 and he didn't have to pay any penalties. The prominent Harry Reid said it was just a "hiccup" in the record of the well liked Timothy Geithner. No wonder we have problems on Wall Street!

I don't know about you but I am extremely upset how simple it is for these politicians to get away with their sins without any penance. Chris Todd is another one who seems to be pious and saintly but is one of the biggies who contributed to the cost of our money problems on the home front. Do these people have no conscience? The politicians and some of our right minded reporters seem to have the opinion there's nothing wrong here and Mr. Geithner will be selected for our Treasury Secretary. What's wrong with this picture?

President Bush, content the war in Iraq is nearly won, says he rejected his own party despite pressure to withdraw, a move now lauded by his father. It was very touching seeing the two of them as father and son being interviewed by Mr. Hume.

We watched a debate of sorts on our Sunday Morning CBS program which we have watched every Sunday morning religiously for years where two different journalists gave diverse opinions of their views of the President Bush's years in the White House. I would enjoy entertaining another persons opinion as to how some of the journalists cannot give President Bush credit for the success of the war in Iraq and more importantly keeping our country free from attack. The one negative opinion stated that President Bush is the most negative president of the United States. I don't buy into that for one second and I believe that journalist will be proven wrong. Could it be the liberals are still mad Bush won over Gore? Can you imagine how Gore would have handled 9/11 - similar to the Global Warming issue probably.

Well, in a matter of less than two weeks we will be governed by a new president with a new agenda and many of the same ole Clinton people. It has been projected that our recession and unemployment will continue to be bad so by mid year Obama will begin to take on flack.

I want very much to sell our home this spring, although, my energy level isn't great enough to accomplish that goal at this point. I am hoping that things will turn around and there will be some stability in the real estate market. As a senior citizen with our home being our investment it is our last hurrah for a good secure future that is dependent on the sales price. We'll see.

President Bush Discusses No Child Left Behind

President George W. Bush and first lady Mrs. Laura Bush on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2008, visited the General Philip Kearny School in Philadelphia. The first thing I noticed when I looked at the first photo with President Bush was his smile and what seemed to me his very relaxed mood.

I have been wondering for a few days how President Bush must be feeling with not yet President - President Elect Obama going around making speeches and doing a lot of procedures which is usually handled by the President. He's no longer a Senator and not yet a President - - what is his actual title?

Personally, I think President Bush is doing a great job with all of this - a great sport. And, too, maybe he's getting a lot of things done and tying up the loose ends since the media is off his back.

I will really miss President Bush and First Lady Laura - and the family and Barney and Miss Beezley.

Time is short

I have thought for days how to start my posts about our President Bush. Yesterday when I had free time with no interruptions, I checked out articles at the White House website, I realized how much I will miss President Bush and Laura Bush. I didn't agree with some of his policies, but as so many agree, he kept our country safe.

I know our citizens believe it is time for a change - but not from the same ole ones in office - how can we see a change with the same people from the Clinton administration in policy making positions? As I've said before, it is the Congress and the House that makes the most decisions and with the luck of the draw maybe they are working together for the good of the country. But, unfortunately as so happened with President Bush - it was a fail/fail situation. The Democrats did everything they could to trip him up even when it was good.

George Bush is a man of high morals. He has Christian values and principles. He has a wonderful marriage to a beautiful and thoughtful lady, a great relationship with his two daughters, and his parents and brother and sister. He may have had some youthful indiscrections, but nothing like Ted Kennedy had when he left his date in a car to drown. Or, like President Clinton and the scandal in his office in the White House. I wonder if people today have less morals than ever before. A friend told me it didn't matter what the public officials did in their personal life but what mattered to her was how they voted. The answer related to a question I asked an acquaintance about John Edwards who had committed adultery while his wife had cancer. This person didn't care about John Edward's values. I am shocked because in my opinion if he wasn't thoughtful and considerate first to his wife, then how much respect does he have for his constituents that trusted him to do the right thing for their state.

Perhaps it will take four more years of the same old Democrats in office before the American people at large understand. And by the way, for those who really believe it was a landslide win for Barrack Obama, you are wrong. It wasn't a close race like Bush and Gore, but Obama didn't run away with it. And there were other terrific Republicans who may have pulled the majority vote, but it is what it is today. But, now, my thoughts are with the Bush's - certainly not on where Barack Obama is vacationing or where he's going to live until January 20th. Maybe I'm seeming unpatriotic, but I am miffed with the media and their stupidity and lack of fair and balanced coverage, period.

Florida

I read a short blob on Drudgereport this morning - Jeb Bush may run for Senate seat in Florida. Personally, I think that would be great. He seemed to do a great job running the state of Florida.

Also, good news this morning, the Republican won the seat in Georgia. Here's the headline from the ABC internet post - "Will Georgia Vote Reverberate in Minnesota?" I guess the votes are still too close to call that one and according to Bill Hemmer's opinion on Fox News this morning, it may not be until January until we know the result of that election.

Let's hope. Drudgereport is a good place to get quick glances at the news of the day when you don't have a lot of time to spend on the computer.

Green, Drill, Bail Out, Thanksgiving Turkey

I've come to the conclusion there are strings tied to the Big Auto Maker's Bail Out and that is Green Cars. The Democrats don't want to drill, they are assuming they won't have to if the American Auto makers promise to create all green machines. The question will be then - if we have all Green Machines, do we really need oil? What about the rest of us and the vehicles we drive - will they become obsolete in a couple of years? Will every citizen have a green machine? How about those four wheeler truck lovin drivers - you can't do much hauling with a green machine, can you? Lots of questions about going green - and it will take years. And does that mean we will never lose our commitment and ties to the oil countries? How exactly is all this going to come out?

The Dems and the Environmentalists may have won for now especially if the Big Spending Auto Makers from Michigan promise to make the majority of green cars - the deal will be signed sealed and delivered - but the deal won't be cut until after Barack Obama is officially sworn in as President. Heaven forbid - they wouldn't do anything to give credit to President Bush - at least not on purpose.

With Thanksgiving Day quickly approaching, I do give thanks for my family, my home, my dear friends and the opportunities I have living in the United States, but most of all I give thanks for my faith and the love of my husband.

Republican Governor's Association

These are my favorite governors although I think we have been given limited access to the new up and coming political movers and shakers due to the news medias coverage of the Democrats. I found other photos of Gov Palin, but for me, when she is speaking to her Alaska National Guard before they were deployed was the best photo of them all. Can you imagine how she felt since her son was one of the troops being deployed to Iraq?

We have fine Republican individuals who are young and smart on the rise in our party. We must pray for them and keep hope in our heart that next time around they will be chosen to lead our country. But for now, we must also pray for this Democratic party as they lead the U. S. through some of our worse times - even though they are part of the problem.

As several others have said, let's not have the negative bickering about the Obama administration and the United States as was given to the Bush Administration. President Bush did the best with what he had and like has been said - since 9/11, President Bush has protected our country from further attacks - many have forgotten.

OBAMA AIDES LEAK CHAT DETAILS

What kind of presidential governing are we in for in the next four years? If we have a "president" and his staff who can't even be trusted with secrets shared by other presidents - to whom will they be loyal besides themselves? This is shameful.

By the way, I have been wondering if it wasn't the staff of Obama who leaked all the "lies" about Governor Sarah Palin and passed it off as Senator John McCain's staff. Remember it was the son of a Democrat that stole her email information.

Something to think about and be aware of, don't you think? Although, what can we do about it - we are out numbered.

Governor Sarah Palin and Greta Van Susteren

Tonight on Fox News Network we watched Greta Van Susteren interview Governor Palin from Anchorage, Alaska at the state house.

We think Governor Palin is awesome and there's no better interviewer who is fairer and better than Greta. They made an terrific team. My husband noticed about half way through the interview that after Greta asked Governor Palin as question she didn't interrupt her at any time - something that is very rare in many interviews.

The second part of tonight's interview are at Governor Palin's home. They did show a sequence from the home and Governor Palin was putting together something to eat while she was answering Greta's questions about how Senator John McCain asked her to be his running mate. The Dude Todd was sitting on the sidelines holding the baby Trig and listening.

She has a lovely kitchen - large, would love that, but I know with all the entertaining and the big family she probably needs the space. The scene outside her large windows was breathtaking. Magnificent.

The second part of the interview is tomorrow night. If you have the opportunity to see it - don't miss it. The highlight will be Greta driving a snow machine. You won't be disappointed.

Sunday morning news shows

Today I am refraining from watching news shows, although I will admit I watched Fox News for ten minutes. A Republican was speaking on the Republican party and the status of it or lack of status. Yes, it does need an overhaul. The opinions of the Republican leadership seem to be all over the place and there is no unity. It will take four year, most likely, for them to find a good solid trusting leader to guide the leadership in the Congress. I wonder what condition our country will be in then? What will the liberal Democrats have changed in our country?

I have several friends who are afraid for our future and very upset with the outcome of this election. I am not where they are although I am battled by the decisions so many people made to elected Obama. He isn't experienced - he is the lesser experienced of any man to run and win for president - ever! It isn't the color of his skin, it is his background. But, it is what it is and what I fear is what it's going to cost me. I've been poor before and I know how to save money and buy efficiently. I did enjoy going on QVC or HSN internet site and buy stuff, but I don't now. I do tease my husband when we are looking for a good show on TV and we happen to scroll by one of those shopping channels and I say "oh, isn't that beautiful!" I don't need any of that stuff, really!!! And, I'm only teasing. What woman doesn't enjoy spending money on fu-fu stuff, but now is a time to save and preserve what we have.

I am concerned what the cost of a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk will cost in six months. If our taxes are raised, it really won't affect Bob and I so much, but it will affect the younger families. My son needs a job, he has a motorcycle injury, but he's looking for work and he is frantic, he can't find a job. My other son who has a daughter needs a place to live - on one salary there's not a decent affordable place to live in this town. There's no way an average working person can survive on one salary - what has happened to our economy? Raising taxes sure won't solve the problems because then there won't be any jobs at all.

Please take care. I pray willingly for President-elect Barack Obama every day because I can, and because it is the best I can do for my country. We have to ask God to bless him and the Holy Spirit to guide him. If we don't then we have failed as good Christians, and we will be the failures for not asking for God's help on our nation and our leaders.

President-elect Barack Obama

Have you noticed the "new signs" and new colors for the new office of "president-elect?" We are definitely in for a change - he said so, but for those of us that are so accustomed to things as we see them everyday, have we not paid attention to what has been changed? I copied this photo with the banner from the Michelle Malkin website. The blue banner was placed on the front of the podium where Barrack Obama was standing. The red markings were put on the banner by someone sent to Michelle. They indicate the questions of the seal and the statement of an "Office of the President Elect" which I and many others didn't know existed until yesterday at Obama's first financial press conference.

Barack Obama lucked out to be born in the time he was born and to give a speech at the Democratic National Convention when he did - that changed the path of his life. Former President Bill Clinton could give a mesmerizing speech too and he did, and he could spellbound the masses and still does. It is a blessing and a gift. I can't do it, I can't even debate with someone who has the opposite opinion. My mouth goes into seizure and my brain cells stops producing endorphins or whatever it does.

Here we have a man because of the color of his skin has rallied the people of the same color, and he gives a speech and rallies more people who because he says he will give change they believe him and he doesn't have anymore skills or education than many who are ordinary everyday people. But, there are those with lots of money who see the potential in this man, and they have a plan. Do you think Barack Obama said "I need a new sign for the podium and I want it blue with an emblem" well no, I think he was concern for helping his people get back into their homes and giving them free gas.

Many of my friends and on the blogs I read voice their reservations and concerns and their fears of what the next four years will bring. I think we have seen many "stage dressings" from day one when Barack Obama entered the race and they - his backers and planners - have more changes planned. Remember, they created his own Obama Presidential seal in the beginning but because of controversy they changed it. They even have a website using the dot.gov which is specifically a regulated internet web address for only regulated governmental entities not for "presidential elect" conveniences. They are changing things to their way - not what is or has been historically in tact. Will they paint the White House blue, red, or purple? I think we are not only in for changes in policies but interior and exterior surfaces as well. Are they important to you? We have come to take for granted the historical value we have in Washington and our White House and what it looks like today and how it always has been. I am watching to see what changes Barack Obama and his wife Michelle and all of their followers do to my White House. Whoever these people are that are working behind the scenes to promote Barack Obama and their policies, they are very intelligent and creative. Has anyone noticed?

It is an acceptable custom that every new occupant in the White House changes things in some way, and there have been those first ladies who do bring it back to the original look which is our historical past. But, for this new president elect I wonder, if his plans are to completely change my White House to what his perception of what his race has gone through - would that change the whole meaning of the "United" States of America? We have a lot to look forward to, there is a lot of history to be changed in the next four years. Reading Peggy Noonan's column in the Wall Street Journal this morning, she was remember when John F. Kennedy became president and because he was Catholic that was a big deal and the country thought that would change things. But, this is different.

I am a Yankee and I was brought up without some of the feelings I hear, and I am skeptical and even confused. I will continue to watch the external changes - colors, signs, and other superficial things which maybe is not obvious, but is to me obnoxious change.

Economy

The economy is the big news today. President-elect Obama will have a meeting with his high end financial advisers this afternoon and then have a press conference. He has selected some good men to advise him - gee, where were these good men a couple of months ago? Why weren't they advising the Democratic congress then? Why should anything be different? Or, were they saving all their good information until Obama got elected.

The news continues to report about the tiffs within the McCain campaign staff. Too bad. Jealousy, maybe?

A good barometer for how the financial prices for the American family could be the price of a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. We buy our milk usually at Costco or Wal-Mart - our bread at Costco. Gas prices was down - but with the talk of the oil barons cutting back on productions, well, we'll see what happens.

We just can't understand WHY the Dems don't want to drill in the U. S.... I guess they like giving other people's money away for government services and driving the American dollar into the ground. We're in for a bad four years, I think, and it will be eight if the Republicans don't get the act together and unite.

Fox News watcher

If I could chuck my habit of reading the newspapers and watching the TV news as a form of throwing a fit - I would, but who would I be hurting, only me. Accepting the loss of my presidential choice is no reason to give up and stop being informed. I do have control of the remote and I do have the right to mute and change channels if I choose, and I value that right and use that right to my benefit - unless Bob gets there first and he has priority.

Today, the big news, it seems, aside from the news on what President-elect Barack Obama was doing today, we are hearing about the arguments and disagreements on the McCain team with Sarah Palin. Maybe I am one sided on this, but that campaign was pretty dull until Sarah joined the team. They selected her pretty late in the game and they expected her to be up to speed immediately. Well, it's a he said she said sort of thing and I think it is pretty dirty trick. I'm beginning to think maybe I made a bad choice if this is the way the McCain team is going to behave. I liked Sarah - she related to us. I think John McCain was a good man, but I think it is very much out of style to pull a trick like this on his choice for VP - what would have happened if they would have won. There had been rumors running for a few weeks now that they would blame Sarah if McCain lost - sorry, folks, it ain't Sarah's fault. You'd better look at yourselves in the mirror and all the goofs you made.

This is a sorry state of affairs, I think. I would vote for Sarah for any political position that I could vote for her.

I am trying to pull myself together and put on a happy face even though I am depressed my choice lost. I certainly don't need the campaign managers of the Republican party of John McCain rubbing mud on my choice of Sarah Palin. Get over it and grow up will you, for crying out loud!!!!! Move on!

President-elect Barack Obama

It's over but it's just beginning. Almost two years of saturated advertisements and speeches, now what will we do. Alias, no more Republican phone calls. I received so many recorded speeches today, I even listened to them all the way through until the end. I've saved Sarah Palins since she called and my recorder picked it up.

I haven't actually heard John McCain's concession speech - I am sorry I missed it. I want to tell both John McCain and Sarah Palin how sorry we are they didn't win. We are so sad.

We must still continue to pray for our country and pray especially for Barack Obama that God will guide him through His will in all things.

I thought the song from Annie "Tomorrow" was appropriate, because, if we are lucky, there will always be a tomorrow. We must make it the best we can regardless of how disappointed we are our man and woman didn't win.

Only a little less than 12 hours now I think until the last poll place closes. I happened to look at my countdown widget just a minute age and it was showing Obama the winner - was that a joke? The counter is no longer on my page - sabotage perhaps!

Will be watching Fox news from time to time and reading Michelle Malkin to see the shenanigans going on around our country. Senator McCain is suppose to be here in Henderson today, but we can't manage the standing wait. I wish we could go see him but we're not physically able.

Can it Be?

The Coal Industry is being attacked? The report I've heard some receive half their electric power from coal and Barack Obama is going to "bring the coal industry to bankruptcy" - do you have an explanation for his comment? I haven't read the whole speech on Drudgereport and have only heard bits and pieces on the TV news but I can surmise since he was talking to his people in California maybe environmentalists he was making promises to appease their agenda. After all coal has a bad reputation for being environmentally unfriendly. But what about all those people in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania - all those miners who are voting for Obama, he's going to put them out of work? Oh, ok, I get it - that's right, we are going to be a Socialists state so they will go on his welfare program he has planned. Can this stuff really be happening?

I read another report this morning, a Bishop of a AME Church in Ohio compared Obama to Moses and Martin Luther King. I know he is likened by some to being "the one" but I'm sorry, I don't see it. Are people today so disillusioned with their own lives they are searching for someone to hope in - someone that we really don't know anything about? What about those Miracles? Hey, Jesus gave us plenty to pin our hopes on when He was on this earth. Have you noticed Obama's mad face, please, it's scary! Jesus didn't get angry except at the moneychangers. Have you noticed how much money Obama is throwing around but he didn't have enough money to help out his poor aunt. Charity starts at home.

I am really scared - if John McCain does win, I think we will have a revolt on our hands with those that think we did something wrong - forget about Acorn and what they did. I don't understand how they can point their fingers at us when the sins of Acorn are right under their noses. I had a mother-in-law like that - they were prejudice against me because of my nationality and my religion, so I know. I think its sad we've made history with this man but his background and his record is so out of sort - why him? There are so many good people in this United States who have proven records of honesty and success of working achievements, but why was a man who is so unknown chosen?

So many unanswered questions and so many new revelations of changes to come in the United States if he wins. I think our freedom of speech will be permanently altered. Some may say the Congress won't let him do it - yes they will - they don't like it when the one and only cable network brings out the news of their wrong doing. They will put that network down and because there are so many in Congress on his side, we won't have a chance. This all seems like an excerpt from an Orwellian novel.

Well, we'll see. We want to sell our beautiful custom home and purchase a smaller home since we are retired and have ailments - but the home prices are terrible here. My thoughts are on how this presidential election changes the real estate market and the jobs for my family members. We are all are going to be affected one way or the other.

Just a couple of things.........

Barack Obama entered the campaign for President 21 months ago. Seven million babies have been born since Presidential campaigning started. Apple has developed for sale two new phones. And Joe the Plumber was just a plumber.

Scary revelation - after election day on Wednesday the polls for the 2012 election will open in 1465 days. Campaigning for the 2012 election will begin on Wednesday.

When does life begin?

With only a couple days left until election day, the question asked by Pastor Rick Warren of Senators McCain and Obama is of central concern to me. The question was "When does life begin?" Senator Obama's reply was so disconcerting and unnerving - I was almost shock and very saddened because I had never heard anyone describe birth without any absolute description as he did. I guess I live in a protected environment. My husband shares the same views on the important life matters as I do. I have heard of people who "believe" in abortion and have known not intimately people who accept abortion without thinking of it as doing anything wrong but to have heard a man who would be President express his thoughts as Senator Obama did at the Saddleback Church debate, I question his ability to be president and judge the well-being of America.

In my sheltered life, perhaps it is because he is an intellect and I've heard their reasoning is different from the common man. They think things on a higher level - perhaps without common sense. But, there are many who are for abortion, and could this be for convenience? The notion they got into the situation of pregnancy in a relationship and didn't want the responsibility or the burden and inconveniency a pregnancy involves so lets do away with "it." - because that's how "they" describe an unborn. Oh God, the mere thought of it makes me sick. There are so many parents who can't have a baby and wait forever to adopt. We have decisions to make and I wonder why some make the decisions they make and obviously don't have to morally pay for them, well, at least not on this earth.

Senator Obama has an aunt living in Boston, I believe. He said he didn't know about her, and oh, it's a step-aunt. She's very poor. He also has a brother who is very poor living in another country. You know - if He can't take care of His own family, how can we expect Senator Obama to take care of us. He lives in an environment that is questionable and yet, people still love him.

We have helped our family when they needed help, without any question - family first. I do question the values of a man who can't answer without hesitation or passing the buck when life begins and also doesn't have any idea about his family or their condition. It seems to me, the only member of his family we've heard about from him are those who have passed away and his living grandmother who is dying, and he only gave her one short day of his time. It seems to me, he didn't want to jeopardise his campaigning for President and that was more of a concern than his family. Even Michelle and the children didn't go to her side with Senator Obama - that wouldn't happen in my family.

It does speak to the character and values of the man who would be President and the woman who would be First Lady.

And the Winner is.....................

Just think, this time next week all the shouting and yelling will be over and we'll know - or will we? Will there be a big bang ending with a clear cut winner or is it going to come down to the line? I read on Yahoo news just a few minutes ago that Al Gore is going to Florida to campaign for Obama. Hmmm, do you think that will help?

We're still having 2 to 3 calls a day from the Republican party, but that's ok. I say the same thing and that we all vote straight Republican. Some call for Tom but I have to say he is in Iraq with the Army and they send their greetings and thanks to him for serving. He expressed to me he didn't want Obama in because of his economic plan.

Governor Richardson was just on the TV talking to a crowd of Democrats and he said Obama wouldn't tax those middle class making less than $120,000.00. Obama said $200,000.00, and Biden said $150,000.00. I believe it really doesn't matter what they say on the stump, its what they really do to your pocket after that will matter and anyhow, they'll change their mind again. What President hasn't changed their political promises when they finally reached the golden throne! Either for need or because the congress wouldn't pass it, but it happens all the time.

I wish Obama wouldn't increase taxes on anyone right now. As smart as he's suppose to be you'd think he'd realize a non-increase is an incentive to spend. Although can it be that those who have so much money like Biden and some of Obama's movie star friends have so much money that paying another 15 to 20% on their taxes won't matter? I guess they'll say and do anything to get him elected.

Oh well. It's Halloween. My goblins are all taking naps. No big deal for us but we will remove our McCain/Palin yard sign and put it back up tomorrow - - - just in case!!!!!

Speechless

Ah! Quaint! Thinking of a title for this blog, "speechless' is how I feel because of the closeness of how this campaign competition is shaping up. I do realize in a few days we will have a mode of "speechless" airwaves when the final electronic vote has been cast and absentee ballads have been tallied and we will have a decision on who is our new President. In my gut I know that will not be the end of it, I know if John McCain gets the Presidency, he will be elected by a slim vote and if Obama gets it, there will be lots of controversies and there are already about that man and his background or lack of.

As mentioned previously for the sake of my sanity I have narrowed my news viewing to two TV stations - Fox Network News and our local CBS channel. We have a great panel of news casters on our local CBS channel. When I watch in the morning they report the news as well as throw in some casual interaction which is very humorous. Also, we are fans of the CSI shows and they are on the CBS stations. We're not avid viewers for some of the more el natural programs or the fight to the end or dance your heart out programs. I'd rather be on the computer or reading a book.

As for the politics of the day - Barack Obama had his big Hollywood presentation on TV last night. We didn't watch. I was anxious to hear the reviews on our morning news program but there were no reviews to be heard. Perhaps this afternoon Bill O'Reilly will have something to say. It looks like the percentages of how things are going between the two candidates are close. I am so glad John McCain has pepped up his speeches to the masses. He's a nice guy with a big heart - you know, nice guys finish last, and unfortunately, until the nice guy put on the fighting gloves attitude his campaign was slowly slidding downhill and was becoming a losing battle. He's doing so much better especially now that we have Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder - isn't America grand!!! I'm glad to see John McCain pepping up the crowds. I'm also glad he's let Sarah Palin loose - I wish he would have let her do her thing months ago. She has a knack for appealing to the common folk and there are a lot of us out there.

Sarah Palin is one tough gal - she is suitable for being in the White House. Any woman who can put up with the crap that has been thrown at her deserves to win.

The more I hear about Barack Obama and the more stuff that seems to keep oozing out of the cracks I become more frightened. There's so much we don't know about this guy. I hate to say it but it's like a cult following. He is good looking and has a winning smile. I'm not too taken with his speeches, in fact, on a scale of 5 to 10 with 10 being the best - I'd give him a 7 for speech making. He says the same thing over and over, well, so do all the others which does become mundane. This morning on the news they were reporting that many of the internet contributors to the Obama campaign were using pre-paid credit cards which means they can be paid under any name and address and since the Obama campaign is not using the usual financially authorized system to verify credit cards, there's no legal paper trail on the donations. Excuse me!!!! Isn't there something inherently wrong with that - - white flags all over the field!!! But, what can they do. Just think about it. If this is the type of business his campaign inspires to, how will our country be run if Obama does become president? Will we have any rights at all?

His campaign has brought in more money than any other in our history. That is amazing and scary - and they don't know where the money is coming from even though there have been rumors the money is coming from foreign contributors which is a no-no and you know folks, we'll never know. The federal government can't work fast enough to check his campaign finances and by the time they get to it, he may be president and do you think for one minute with a Democratic President and Democratic Congress we will have any actual checking on campaign finances of the Obama campaign - heck no!

All we've got is a wing and a prayer - not sure about the wing, but praying is our resource. I know there's plenty of praying going on out there - I receive several prayer emails every day so I'm doing my part - how about you? I've voted and I'm praying - the rest is in God's hand. If you think about it, we need something to turn our country around to a more respectful God fearing land, respecting life and not abortion, freedom of speech and not being afraid to ask a question, and knowing the full truth about a man running for President and knowing who he is and who his friends are.

I have a headache

I'm not getting any rest as the presidential campaigning has seven days to go and according to the new pundits John McCain is behind. We listened to Sarah Palin on Fox Network this morning as she gave her speech to a crowd in Pennsylvania. I really like listening to her and I generally don't listen to any politician give a speech, but I think she's terrific! I never saw her look at her notes once.

I have two articles I'd like to mention today. One is from the Wall Street dated Saturday/Sunday, October 235-26, 2008, on the Opinion page. It was the "Weekend Interview with Fred Smith" by Stephen Moore the title "Washington is the Problem." Here's the link - http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122488966230768509.html?mod=article-outset-box. It is a lengthy article but very interesting. Fred Smith is FedEx's CEO and he backs Senator McCain. A quote from the article is "the politicians deplore the fact that we have a disparity of income, but the only way to make a blue-collar person earn more is to invest in capital, training and infrastructure. So, the more you tax capital, the more you hurt workers." And, in my humble opinion that is the main argument against Obama's politics and what he is preaching.

I have come to the conclusion the majority of Obama's followers must have never owned a business and maybe have been low income wage earners and maybe they don't realize how bad if would be for our economy to raise taxes on our businesses. Why should we punish their rights for free enterprise which is what our country is all about. If you have an opportunity to read the complete text, it will be worth you time.

The other article is from our local newspaper, the Las Vegas Review Journal, dates Saturday, October 25, 2008, front page below the fold - "Republicans Always Happier, Survey Says" and what's weird about this to me is that I have always thought that. The Liberal Democrats that I know and are friends with are very cynical and pessimistic. The article was written by David Montgomery of the Washington Post. Almost here

Only six days until Halloween and the tricker treaters appear and ten days until the election and the scary ads disappear from the TV. We are ready with our Halloween Rice Krispies treats which are individually wrapped and the kids always seems to be glad to get them.

But with regard to the political polls I don't believe any pollster that says Obama is ten points ahead. Have you seen some of the "regular people" being interviewed now? It is refreshing to hear common sense and down to earth opinions rather than the uppities who live beyond my means. Those people that I have heard seemed to agree with me that its a close race. I love it when someone agrees with me!! haha!

Sarah is rocking these days - she has a grand slam momentum going on. Gosh, I hope McCain and Sarah win the election. Sarah's family is awesome and she knows where we are coming from as we raise our families and for those of us who are retired she knows what we have to deal with in our economy. Something else that stuck out in one of the news reports last night - she and John McCain although they agree, she does have ideas beyond what John McCain does and I think this is great - like drilling in Alaska. I think John McCain respects Sarah enough to listen to her ideas or he wouldn't have picked her as his running mate.

Do you realize if we, the U. S., had already been drilling here we wouldn't even be talking about gas station prices being so high. You know the oil barons are cutting back on drilling which means prices are either going to go back up or they won't go down anymore than they are right now. Another thing, even though the price of a barrel of oil has gone down quite a bit, the price at the gas pump hasn't caught up to the lower price. We're screwed no matter which way it goes!

Clear the deck

Not much to say tonight but what has been on my mind is the number of high profile well known Republicans who are jumping ship to the other side and bringing some of their constituents with them. Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania is upset because McCain didn't select him as VP so he's gone over the the other side, and there are others. What are they afraid of - are the afraid if we should lose this election to Obama then they won't have to say they were losers?

I think they are cowards and I sure wouldn't want them as my friends. No wonder the Republican party is going in a mess - when the going gets tough the tough get going but not the Republican politicians, they head for the hills to the other side. Well, good luck to you. I hope the real voters who make a difference remember your retreat.

I was glad to see in our local newspaper - the Las Vegas Review Journal, a full half page below the fold about three columns (I believe) all about how much more experienced Sarah Palin is than Obama. I've been saying it all along, but I don't have anyone to tell it to but you all. Even in the debates, he didn't say anything new, it was repetition and exactly words that he had said in previous debates - he just had a sweet smile and a soft voice and can sell anything with that smooth personality. Too bad we didn't have more debates like the one at Saddleback, that one was very revealing.

By the way - when Obama talks about McCain's health plan, don't believe everything he is saying until YOU read what it is all about. It's complicated but worth looking at - especially if you don't have insurance or you don't want to use what you company offers. Really, check it out - don't take Obama's word for it. He is a good salesman, you know, but after all he is a very intelligent politician and a good speaker like Bill Clinton. He does mesmerize the crowd with that smile. But as I read in the Wall Street Journal recently, Obama has made a lot of promises and he talks a good talk, but when he is actually faced with the reality of being President will he be up to the job. When he was in the Senate he voted "present" way too many times and didn't put across any momentus bills. We all know McCain can do it - and so can Sarah Palin - they both have walked the walk and talked the talk and their records prove what they are capable of accomplishing.

It's going to be a long long week plus until the election - I'm not sure I'll survive election night without having a nervous breakdown. I don't watch CNN now after realizing how one sided their political news reporting is and now after what they did to malign Sarah Palin with lies. It's all dirty pool and messy competition. Even Lou Dobbs on CNN brought that up a month or so ago. We only watch Fox News Network for national news and our local CBS channel for local news because they are a good group of reporters.

Eleven days

Are you getting campaign telephone calls? I was getting about four a day, but now they're down to one a day and its usually recording by a local candidate. I am patient and know that in a few days this will all be over. What is driving me crazy are the commercials - thank you God for the remote. There are some politician's face I don't want to see on my TV screen so I whip that remote out so fast and zap -they are gone! Although their replacement on a nearby channel may be a cartoon or silly commercial but better that than a politician. You know, they could pay off the national debt with the millions of campaign dollars they are spending.

Governor Sarah Palin

Please help me! After listening to the panel on the Fox News with Brit Hume a few minutes ago and their opinion about why Sarah Palin isn't doing so well, I am depressed. One comment (not word for word) from Charles Krauthammer was her religious position on life and having a baby with Downs Syndrome. It boils down to this in my words that the liberals do not accept the action of a mother when she has a choice to birth a child who is known to have a birth defect. It is the opinion she is looked upon very negatively, this and other reasons why they say she isn't experiences enough to be Vice President.

I just can't believe my ears and my heart is hurting. I sacrificed years of my life to care for my son who was injured in a non-combat accident while he served in with the Army in Germany. I gave up a good job and going to college, we gave up a normal social life and our family dedicated our life to caring for our son until his death. I would not change anything I gave up and would do it again. I also raised a grandson because my daughter has a mental disability and was unable to be responsible at that time.

I have a very liberal friend who made a comment recently about the difference of our political beliefs and I couldn't quite figure out what she was driving at until I heard the Fox panel this afternoon. Then I realized my friend could never understand why my son's life was worth the sacrifice because to me what else it there in life - material things, no, nothing is more important to me and my husband than life. I have had others even physicians question why we would give our time to our son when we could just put him in an institution. God gave me a lot of strength and a lot of love and I certainly didn't want to see my son laying in a VA hospital being mistreated and starved. He had bed sores so deep you could put your fist in it. There are horrible things that happened to that wonderful boy and I couldn't stand by and watch people mistreat him.

I just don't understand how people can look themselves in the mirror and turn around a criticize a mother for loving her children no matter what. They will never know the depth and joy of true love or have the strength to survive through the worst situations because they are so shallow. If because of their narrow mindedness Sarah Palin and John McCain loses this election, there will be something better for them both because they both brought an awareness of the ignorance and prejudice there is in this country and it exist not because of the color of the skin.

WE DID IT!!!!!

We voted this morning! I have never been so nervous when I voted in my life! I don't know what got into me. For the first time ever, I did my research on each and every person running for office here in Clark County that was on our ballot and I thoroughly checked out the five questions we were to vote on - doing all this before we left the house rather than hurriedly reading through the actual ballot at the polling place. It was a wonderful time saver and I felt enlightened that I knew who I wanted to vote in the other categories before I actually got to the place. I would also like to mention just to cover any unusual questions as to our identity we bought additional forms of identification plus the booklet that we receive from the election committee. We didn't know if we would encounter any problems with our voter registration.

Once we entered the building, I noticed there were a lot of people there but it was a well organized system . We were directed where to stand until directed to an open computer. Honestly, I behaved like I was a new bride I was so nervous and shaking and I wasn't even sure how to sign my name. The ladies were very helpful and patient. I was directed to find an open polling machine, and I almost goofed that one up too and was reprimanded for going the wrong way. I plugged my little card into the machine it wouldn't work right away, oh me, this wasn't going well, then to top it off, I couldn't find the stupid page that I had marked with our selections of the local individuals we wanted to vote for - oh, golly, what a pickle. As I was looking down and earnestly searching the booklet the lady who monitors the people and the machines had stopped before me several times. I didn't like the lack of privacy. The voting machines were arranged close together side by side. I have been at other voting places where the computer and voter are closed in by drapes with complete privacy. The only privacy today was the little doors on each voting machine and they weren't wide enough to prevent someone from checking out my list or how I was voting. I do admit, I think the people on both sides of me this morning were busy trying to figure out the machine and read their booklet to vote rather than pay any attention to anyone else.

I was so relieved after I finished and re-checked my choices, I wanted to celebrate with a drink. It would have been easy enough since right outside the doors of the library where we voted was another smaller room which was a coffee shop and the aroma was awesome. Bob and I settled on a visit to Chili's restaurant nearby and a wholesome lunch and no drink. I feel proud and I wore my "I voted" sticker on my blouse to Chili's and to Costco. I saw one other lady in Costco with her "I Voted" sticker too. God Bless America!

I don't know about you and what's happening in your part of the country - but Bob and I have noticed we have rarely seen any political bumper stickers this year. I noticed in both the library where the voting was held and in the Costco parking lot - there were no stickers. It is very curious and unusual. Always in the past, at least one out of every four or five vehicles will have a bumper sticker. In the course of the past month, I have seen only two McCain/Palin and two Obama. I have a McCain/Palin yard sign, but quite frankly, I haven't seen maybe one other yard sign and that was Obama in a neighborhood a couple miles from here. A neighbor from down the street stopped my husband out in our front yard the other evening. He was talking to Bob about our sign and said that he wouldn't put a McCain yard sign because he was afraid to, but he was going to vote for McCain. I have seen an advertisement online that someone was offering free pizzas for McCain signs - don't know where or who it was. I was browsing and didn't think much of it then.

Bob and I make a point of watching Neil Cavuto and then an hour later Brit Hume both on Fox Network. Today Neil and his guests were discussing how this election will affect the stock market and how bad it will be if Obama does raise taxes. They all admit that John McCain knows better and will do the right thing for the economy. That's all well and good, and we know that. But in retrospect, later on in the show Neil was showing a clip of Obama meeting with people in a neighborhood and you could tell this neighborhood wasn't very financially well off. It is a fact, those poor people don't care about the stock market, they worry about paying their rent and putting food on the table for their children. They are the ones Obama appeals to and they are the ones who adore him and there are a lot of poor people in this country today. His message is of salvation. How can you explain to those disadvantaged people that in order for them to have a job to put food on their table regardless of what the wage, there has to be a job to go to before there can be a wage and raising taxes on businesses just won't cut the mustard much less buy a bottle of catchup.

Things are getting even hairier out there - the constant maligning of Sarah Palin; Joe Biden's stupid remarks that are going unnoticed and then his "alarm" that the sky is going to fall after Obama is elected. Holy Macaroni! Neil Cavuto reported that McDonald's is selling more hamburgers than ever because people are really nervous and eating more especially hamburgers since the stock market is falling again.

"Hey, Bob! Can we go to McDonald's tonight for supper!"

Crossroads

Each passing day as we are brought closer and closer to election day and it seems as though we are approaching a cross roads of how much more can each political party do to sway any voters who haven't made up their mind on who they will vote for in the election.

Obama has had massive amounts of money donated to his campaign. He will be spending a large amount on a half hour TV program during prime time baseball playoffs. I wonder how the sports fans are going to feel about that! Interesting.......can't wait to see how that works out. I continue to receive all shapes and sizes of envelopes requesting money for Senator McCann's campaign, but the bank of Jean has been put in habeas corpus. We have not been hit by the stock market downturn but by the hand of "don't spend or else" as delegated by my branch manager -me! I receive two or three telephone calls a day from a very nice person at the GOP telephone bank asking the same questions. I am sorry but last evening I was in the middle of the end of a Bill O'Reilly program and I really wanted to hear it when a sweet old lady called to ask a couple of question and I think I was a little impatient. I thought I heard a surprise tone in her voice when after she thanked me for my time, I also thanked her for her time. I know they are volunteering for rights to tickets to attend an appearance of either Senator McCain or Governor Palin.

Sarah Palin will be here in Henderson at the Pavilion today. I would have liked to have gone, but I couldn't deal with the time in line and neither could my husband. Rallies are for the healthy people unless you are in a wheelchair - not that someone in a wheelchair is healthy, but at least you have a seat. Please, I'm not being disrespectful, our son was in a wheelchair and I know how that works. But, if you have a disability that is not obvious and you don't need special seating, but the health problems involve the inability to stand long or walk long distances then you have few choices for rallies of any sorts. Governor Palin did call me last night on the telephone. I was awestruck. I was breathless and was shocked. Yes, I absolutely was speechless even though I knew it was a recording - it really sounded like her. The Dems think they have a rock star with Obama, but I know we have a rocket star in Sarah Palin - she's gorgeous and amazing!!!!

We will vote tomorrow and I can't wait!

Frustered

Ten more days to Halloween and fifteen days until the election and then what? Actually, when I think about it the campaigns are grownup Halloween parties. Each "party" offer their bag of goodies to us packaged in a variety of tactical colors and designs and each individualized to tempt us to their programs hallowed cave. Some of the campaign party's management team decorate their stage worse than the scariest house on the block. The "dead guy" that jumps out of the coffin is not unlike the rhetoric we've heard for generations - the body has been dead for so long it's beginning to stink.

I think I am developing heart problems from the stress of their scary tactics. I am sick of the Democrats painting Sarah Palin as inexperienced - give it up will you. For crying out loud - you elected Bill Clinton for two terms, and he was ONLY a governor of a small southern state. Sarah Palin has more experience than Bill Clinton - oh, sorry, Sarah is a woman, that's the difference. Even the women of NOW can't see the difference -0h, but Sarah is a conservative, heaven help her - she saves the children! Please!!! Barack Obama has campaigned three of his years since he's been a senator, I am sick of it! Give me a better reason - it's a two-faced, double standard society! This week Fox News is having a special on Iraq with Bill Hemmer doing the reporting. I wonder how many Democrats really care - probably only if their family members are over there, but the party itself is only enveloped in its self-absorbed partisanship. They can't even convict their own of wrong doing, but Lord knows if it was a Republican doing what Chris Dodd did, he would have been hung.

Yes, we will be voting. We'll be early voting this week, and I'd like to say I'll be glad when it's over, but its never over because when one campaign ends another begins. We've been watching Huckabee on Saturday nights and he has a pretty good show. I have enjoyed hearing other gentlemen of the party who are giving speeches around and I know we did have some good men running - like Romney, and I wonder where we would be right now if we had selected a different candidate - it would probably be the same old thing no matter who we picked.

I know there are a lot of prayers for this campaign, I can only imagine how busy God is, I guess that's why my prayers haven't been answered regarding some personal issues. I wonder if our prayers are organized according to importance or maybe the who's who - nah! Maybe, if I haven't been so good this week, I am put on probation and the answer to my prayers on hold until I do my penitence. Yoo hoo God, I've been good this week, please, may I have..................................! Ha ha - you thought I would tell you - no way. What's happening?

This morning Bob and I watched the Fox News as usual. I love Neil Cavuto and he's always on Saturday mornings with the financial gurus. He has been giving the advice to not panic and wait this out with regard to making any drastic financial changes, I think he is right. He is also for an hour during the week.

I am equally concerned with the direction the election is going but for the life of me I don't believe the numbers the polls are giving out. In Peggy Noonan's column in the Wall Street Journal, she wrote the same thing, the polls are off. I listened to a part of a big doings with John McCain yesterday and the public was telling McCain to get tough and he doesn't want to. I don't know what we are going to do if we have a Democratic president and a Democratic controlled Congress. Has our country really gone totally liberal?

We've lost our rights to displaying our religious beliefs, we lost our right to speak out against the other party - for example, Obama's squad will prosecute anyone who says anything against him in Missouri. The Acorn people are manipulating the registration forms for voters -how much of this are we going to stand for - are there no equal rights people who are conservatives or who really care where this country goes? And the Congress - they aren't doing anything because they don't want George Bush to get any credit for anything. They would put their own beliefs first rather than the country. Why in the world don't they want to drill for oil? Do you realize if we drill it would put the middle east out of business and the money back in our pocket and we would be the number one country of power again - what is wrong with these people!!!!! Do they want our country to fail - - oh, wait a minute - they want all the power for Obama, then they will do something, but oh, wait, no they will give all the money away to the poor. Oh, wait another minute, what will happen to the businesses, they will be controlled by the government and then what - we will be socialists!!!! No more entrepreneur ventures because who will be stimulated to create a new business if they are taxed to the hilt!!!! Heaven help us.

The Debates

Last night was the second debate between John McCain and Barack Obama and it was boring. We sometimes listen to our TV with our headphones. My husband is very hard of hearing so he NEEDS the headphones 99% of the time for anything. I like to use my headphones because we have several people and a grandchild living with us so there is usually a lot of activity which can be huge distractions. What is nice about my headphones is the one and off switch on the volume control which I used consistently last night. I am reading a book by William F. Buckly and last night was a perfect time to read when I thought the debate was getting tiresome. The book is not one of those stories you have to actually keep up with but a series of articles that were publisted in his magazine over the course of many years.

If you are familiar with William F. Buckley you know that his grammar and word usage is superior. I have threatened to keep a dictionary by my side as I read anything by him but I'm too lazy to get up and get it. I do have a small compact Oxford dictionary and thesaurus by my computer but the print is so small I can't read it even with my glasses on and using a magnifying glass and it is outdated. So I struggle through Buckley's narratives and hope I haven't missed an important meaning - I'll do what I need to do soon.

Back to the debates. I thought Sarah Palin and Joe Biden's debate was excellent. I do like Sarah and I understand why some cultures may not. I am a midwestern, a city girl but have lived on a farm in Kentucky. I DO know that just because she "speaks" sort of whinny and country-fied that certainly doesn't make her stupid. Behind that cheeky first appearance, she has grace, humor, and punch. Just like her snap to it reaction to the heckler in the crowd yesterday at a political get together - she started her speech, the guy started yelling things and instantly she was on it like a hummingbird on a feeder - she was terrific with her come back. Unfortunately, that response to the heckler was all we saw and heard so I don't know if the guy shut up after that or he argued with her. I suppose if he continued to heckler her, the media would have been on it like flies on horse manure.

I am so afraid if Obama gets elected - like the problems we are having with Acorn around our country and the election fraud. You know he was a big part of it when he was getting started. Also he has received a campaign contributions from them too. Don't tell me it the color of the skin issue because it isn't - I have read about him, and I read as much as I can about the candidates I vote for - if Colin Powell was running, there would be no doubt - and it doesn't matter which party. There are a trememdous amount of able bodied and extremely intelligent people of all walks of life who could be running for office of president this year - but this is what we've got.

I don't like the idea of all of the changes of Obama and what his ideas are and I have a right to make that choice. John McCain is my ideal choice but he does promise to clean up Washington and I do trust his leadership abilities. I liked Romney but the rest of the US didn't so there you are. There were good people running but we've got what we've got. God help us!

I pray for our financial situation too. The campaign selection hasn't seemed to help the positive action of the market any which must say something. I wonder if anyone has noticed.
